Abstract for Chapter 5

This case study attempts to profitably and marketably answer Ian Stevenson, MD's question, how can "mental images have extension" (Stevenson, 1997, p. 2083), by furthering the application of frame analysis in the fields of communication identity studies and reincarnation studies (Andsager, 2000, 2001, Drzewiecka, 1999, Goffman, 1963, Goffman, 1959, Stein, 2004, Stevenson, 1997, & Zick, et al, 2008). The Lamarckian behavioral evolution matrix of prejudice, a discriminating selection between two or more signals (Lang, 2009), is investigated as conscious repression of previous life memories of the self (Stevenson, 1997). Through retro-active analysis of three lifetimes, the Author and research director, Silvia Stein, tests for the null hypothesis, photo documents (frames), and identifies consistent Lamarckian evolutionary transition patterns indicating a mirror imaging, including audio mirroring, process in self-visualization and self-realization processes (Ayers & Hopf, 1987, Iacoboni, et al, 2005, Steele, et al, 1998 & Stevenson, 1997), pitting one's prejudices (Allport, 1958, Glock & Stark, 1963, & Zick, et al, 2008), against a new signal (Lang, 2009): their new concept of self. The result, according to Carl Jung (1990), is that a subject's schizophrenic episode might be an essential step in individuation, based on a rupture of their plausibility structure of personality (Stevenson, 1997, Zelazo, et al, 2007, & Zick, et al, 2008), followed by a quantum decoherence, otherwise known in communication studies as cognitive dissonance (O'Keefe, 2009), and then a higher consciousness, which is known as quantum decohesion. This process, in communication studies, seems to verify Jung's assertion that schizophrenic symptoms are part of the individuation process (Jung, 1990), Lang's (2009) motivated limited capacity model, and the Roger Penrose conjecture (Kurzweil, 2000).

I like this article for it's convincing summary and its application to understanding some Christian cult and political brainwashing tactics (Stein, 2002). Best article summary is stated at the conclusion. “Our data suggest that at an explicit, subjective level, we can enface even dissimilar, disliked, and unfamiliar others. However, at a subtler, implicit level, the self-other merging depends on positive interpersonal perception derived from individual-based interactions.” Enfacement is similar to Hollywood audiences taking on the persona on the screen, a good thing in positive role modelling, though an illusion in film, not the actor portraying the fictional character - the negative outcome though results in a false sense of self due to trained mirror neuron imaging to maladapt in society, which is related to how the brain represses or eradicates negative information that is emotionally not possible to deal with in operations of denial or brainwashing (Trunnel & Holt, 1974, & Zechner, 2019). Negative enfacement processes seem related to cultivated mirror neuron malfunction somewhere on the ADHD-autism spectrum (Iacoboni, et al, 2005 & Zechner, 2018). Saving cognitive energy the easy way out is to accept the other's face as one's own, such as in Albert Bandura’s cultivation theory of media imitation process of learned violence.

Western medical practice has destigmatized recognition of past lives as part of the broad spectrum of the personality matrix, and self recognition in individuation processes, thus if the person sees their likeness in a deceased person’s face we cannot impose upon them the diagnosis of schizophrenia or enfacement illusion (Haraldsson, 2005, Stein, 2017 & Stevenson, 1997). Most interesting to me is how enfacing others provides explanatory power on the evangelical tactic used in crucifixal brainwashing – a Jesus paradigm result of enfacement illusion for Christians thinking they are Jesus (Stein, 2002) through the 'likability' issue assuming that image of 'Jesus' as their own in mild schizophrenia version of enfacement illusion.

The article’s weakness, which could be used not in accordance to the authors' good will intention, is the false paradigm of the operational definition of black or African race for the study groups of Italians and Africans. Africa is a continent of 54 countries with a combined GDP of 7.16 Trillion dollars whereas Italy is 1 country with a GDP half of that of Germany (Germany’s GDP is 4.16 trillion dollars). Italy is part of EurAsia, and like EurAsia Africa is not a country it is an entire continent outshadowing tiny little Italy with its invasive migration whereas Italians struggle to maintain what little they have - pitting Italians against Africans is like pitting Nigerians against EurAsians or little New Mexico against the Latin American continent - the biased operational definitions of race/nationality is perhaps due to northern European/Swiss failure to recognize that Italians have a broad range of skin tone from Sicily, black hair and dark eyes and dark skin in summer to brown hair brown eyes and olive skin in Tuscany (I’m from Tuscany though pass as ‘European’ when I bleach blonde my hair and wear blue contact lenses - after Vietnam my American Dad had a type of enfacement illusion and thought my Italian Mother and I 'the VietKong enemy') - in northern Europe we Italians, like Vietnamese by Americans, are perceived as 'black'.
